Joyce McLeod has been elected to a second term as Chief at Montreal Lake Cree Nation.
That was the outcome of Friday’s election.
McLeod received a total of 409 votes. The runner up was Edward Henderson with 333, followed by Conrad Bird with 317.
The four on-reserve councillors are Dean Henderson. Arnold Naytowhow, Carol Naytowhow and Troy Naytowhow.
The two councillors at Little Red Reserve, Charmaine Ermine and Elisa Halkett, won by acclamation.
Jeff Badger and Eldon Henderson were elected the two urban councillors.
A total of 1,071 ballots were cast.
Eight ballots were identified as spoiled.
While results were posted Friday night, they won’t be official until Saturday. The inauguration ceremony will take place in the morning.
