Sask. Lotteries has announced a Prince Albert winner of $100,010 after buying a Lotto 6/49 ticket at a local business.
According to a media release, Roy Olexyn won the cash on the Dec. 5 draw after buying his ticket at the Lake Country Co-op C-Store.
It came as a surprise to Olexyn because he thought he only won $10 after checking the winning numbers in the Sask. Lotteries website. What he didn’t know is he won the extra once he used the ticket checker in the store. He asked for help from one of the store’s employees and they confirmed it for him.
“There were too many zeroes,” he said. “I thought [the ticket checker] was broken.”
He plans to use the money to do some home renovations and will be setting some aside for his grandchildren.
His wife didn’t believe him at first saying she wasn’t in the mood for joking around until she realized he wasn’t joking and the cashier verified it.
